The Three Cities, without the crowds.
Kalkara is the south-side answer to Sliema — across the harbour from Valletta, next door to the Three Cities (Birgu, Senglea, Cospicua). It's calmer, older, more residential. The waterfront is for walking, not selfies.
Our Kalkara apartment is two bedrooms, modern inside, ten minutes' walk to Birgu's marina. The right base for a trip that leans toward history and quiet evenings rather than nightlife.
Marina walk along the inner harbour. Sunset is the moment.
16th-century fortress, top of Birgu, panoramic views.
Watch boats turn into Valletta from the lookout at the tip.
